One of the most favorable food in Africa is Rice, in countries like Tanzania they usually call it as “Ubwabwa “. Rice has a hundreds of preparing methods, yet there are common ones used, as for this one we are going to look up on, coconut rise.
NOTE : Rice and Coconut ratio may be 1:2, i.e. 1kg of rice with 2 full coconut, packet coconut may be used as well.
- When water starts to make vapor, add one full tea spoon of salt, followed by coconut and cloves. Let the mix boil for a while (3- 5 minutes).
- Use tea filter to remove suspended cloves from the mix, then put your prepared rice into the mix, let it boil for about 10 minutes.
- Best rice preparation trick, depends on the amount of heat supplied during these 10 minutes . Heat should be moderate all along this time up to when you see water is about to dry.
- Lower heat level for about 15 more minutes, before your rice is ready for lunch or dinner. You may check for water to be sure it’s all dried out.
